Nub – a Big Picture zenword

by zenwords staff

Since we’re still basking in the glow of the New Year, we’ll continue to focus on the Big Picture. The Macro.

Below is a  ‘Big Picture’ Zen Word that will help you say more with less. Enjoy!

Nub (nub) n. The essence or core of something; the point; gist.

After some patient questioning, the sheriff was able to peel back their story and get to the nub of the tale.

How would you use nub in a sentence? Be sure and leave a comment!

PS. All you writers, listen up! Susan from richwriting.com suggested I challenge you to a Hemingwayesque haiku contest.

Remember his famous 6 word story?

Here’s Hemingway’s shortest story ever (so the story goes)
For sale.
Baby shoes.
Never worn.

Here’s the challenge………use today’s zenword in a 6 word haiku.

Here’s mine. It’s my feeble attempt to limn our current economy (yes, limn is a zenword).

Big nub

In flux

No dough.

That should be EASY to top….. Let’s here what you can do!

All the Best!

6-word haiku is a great exercise because it gets you to the nub of the matter…
